Her primary goal is to make books so she can read again, which leads her and her friends to invent new technologies and navigate a harsh class system that views her as a poor commoner. The season is a slow-paced, slice-of-life story focused on her journey to bring reading to her new world and her struggle with a fatal disease called the Devouring.
